Montserrat Anguiano

BIO

Montserrat Anguiano, born in Barcelona in 1982, is a painter, poet, and cultural communicator. Her art is assertive, political, and socially engaged. It raises the banners of Afrofeminism and anti-racism, working to give visibility to oppressed communities. For her, art is a form of healing and catharsis.

Montserrat offers a critical perspective focused on introspection and the search for Afro identity. Her signature style uses primal)’ colours, playing with silhouettes through light and shadow-light versus the opacity of more realistic forms-to depict powerful representations of femininity within the Black community.

She is currently focused on abstraction, marking an important and necessary artistic evolution. This chromatic joumey leads us to a proud, authentic, and defiant being without ever losing her fierce and activist spirit.
