She holds a PhD in Communication, Culture and Arts from the Universidade do Algarve (2018), with a thesis on filmmaker Flora Gomes.

She is currently conducting postdoctoral research at Póscom, Facom-UFBA (CAPES-Brasil-PIPD-1/2024), including a research stay abroad at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2026), focusing on film genres (African musicals) and African film festivals.
She is a collaborating researcher at CIAC/Ualg-Portugal and a member of AIM-PT (since 2017), Socine (since 2018), ABEÁfrica (since 2019) and ABRACCINE since 2024.

She has published extensively on African cultures and cinema from the PALOP countries.
