
Betto Snay (José Augusto Ribeiro)
Betto Snay is a multifaceted artist of Angolan origin, acknowledged for his work as a rap musician, actor and fashion designer. Residing in the San Francisco district of Bilbao, his career is deeply entwined with his social activism.
Musician and Activist
As a rapper and MC, Snay uses his music to reflect upon racism, diversity and the experiences of migrants. He has created charity projects such as “Cama de Cartón” (“Cardboard Bed”), intended to help homeless people.
Fashion Designer
He is the creator of Afrook Essentials, a clothing brand that promotes cultural diversity and family bonds through his designs.
Actor
Betto had a role in the popular series DETECTIVE TOURE, filmed in his neighbourhood and available on Netflix. He has been interviewed in media such as MondoSonoro, where he has shared his experience as an actor.
Social Activism
His commitment to the community is unyielding. He is a member of the association Euskal Rap, where he is active on the Bilbao social and music scene. In addition, he is the creator of the Damba Festival, a festival against racism that has become a reference point in the migrant community in Spain, with its fifth edition this year.

“Bihotza” prize 2023:
Snay was awarded this prize in the “Special” category for his work as an Angolan musician, social entrepreneur and artist, promoting respect for diversity.
“De Bilbao de toda la vida” prize 2021:
He received this award alongside the brewery LA SALVE and Mari Puri Herrero, in recognition of his contribution to the local culture of Bilbao.
