He is part of two major cultural movements in Luanda: the urban art collective <em>Verkron Collective<\/em> \u2013 from which his artistic surname derives \u2013 and the independent film production company <em>Gera\u00e7\u00e3o 80<\/em>.<\/p><p>He defines his work as \u201cemotional Afrofuturism\u201d, in response to the Afrofuturism that emerged in the United States. He was recently awarded the PALOP New Talent Prize by the <em>Kugoma<\/em> Film Forum in Mozambique. He co-directed <em>The Adventures of Angosat<\/em> (national premiere at AFRIKALDIA), the first musical film ever shot in Angola, which has recently received awards in Portugal and the United States. The film\u2019s art direction was by Geg\u00e9 M\u2019bakudi, with whom he collaborates on most of his projects. Resem Verkron is also the author of several video art pieces developed during a residency at the <em>Hangar<\/em> Artistic Research Centre in Lisbon, which have been exhibited in art galleries in Angola and Portugal. He made his directorial debut with the short film <em>Lola &amp; Mami<\/em> (2021), a reflection on toxic masculinity.
